Phillips 66 (NYSE: PSX) has committed $500,000 over five years to support future expansion at the Brayton Fire Training Field. This will allow the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) to further enhance its training of first responders in the protection of critical infrastructure.

Two TEEX employees attended the recent DARPA Robotics Challenge Trials,
where 16 teams were vying to demonstrate robots capable of assisting humans in disaster response.

The sixth annual TEEX Leadership Development Symposium attracted nearly 700 emergency responders to Frisco, TX, on Jan. 6-8 for sessions on management, leadership, budgeting and safety issues in fire and emergency services.

Responders in this northernmost corner of the United States are eager for disaster response training offered by TEEX. The North Slope Borough Fire Department hosted two classes in November at Barrow Fire Station #1: a one-day Awareness Training for hazardous materials incidents and a three-day Operational Level Response to HazMat/WMD Incidents.

The 2014 Leadership Development Symposium will be presented on Jan. 6-8 in Frisco, Texas, by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). There is no registration fee for Texas resident firefighters, and sessions are geared to meet continuing education requirements for Texas fire officers and EMS personnel.

TEEX has delivered tabletop exercises presenting realistic threats or incident scenarios that allow university administrators and emergency personnel to work through their response plan to keep students and employees safe.
