The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service is presenting the 2013 Leadership Development Symposium Jan. 14 – 16 in Frisco, Texas. A cadre of top-notch speakers will provide up-to-date information on leadership, management, safety, budgeting and other relevant topics. The theme for the symposium, which is conducted by TEEX Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI), is “Take Charge.”
Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert Moore of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) to the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. The commission enforces statewide fire service standards and provides education and assistance to fire service personnel.

TEEX recently facilitated and evaluated a Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) Exercise at the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (PSJA) High School in Pharr, Texas. The mission of the Strategic National Stockpile Program is to ensure the availability and rapid deployment of life-saving pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, and equipment necessary to counter the effect of biological, chemical, nerve agents and in naturally occurring disasters like public health pandemics.
Participants in the AgriLife Advanced Leadership Program participated in a team-building Disaster City Challenge, designed to hone their leadership and communication skills and their ability to “think on their feet” while facing challenging disaster scenarios.
Members of the 81st Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction) from North Dakota National Guard were at TEEX Sept. 20-28 for hands-on training and exercises. The team honed its skills for response to natural disasters, structural collapse, hazmat incidents and chemical/biological/radiological/nuclear and explosive (CBRNE) incidents.
Twenty soldiers in the 85th Civil Affairs Brigade at Fort Hood have graduated from a special EMT-Paramedic program offered by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and conducted in cooperation with the U.S. Army III Corps and Texas A&M University-Central Texas in Killeen.
