Texas Workforce Commission unveils online resource for economic development

Texas communities now have a new resource to help attract business and development opportunities to the Lone Star State. “SitesOnTexas 2.0 is a geographic mapping resource that allows workforce and economic development professionals to effectively collaborate with employers and plan for business expansion, job retention and workforce training,” said TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar.

Public Works experts help assess water lines, sewer system in West blast zone

A Public Works Assessment Team, part of the Public Works Response Team (PWRT), deployed to West, TX, on April 24. In their operational period Thursday, the team assisted the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) and the West city engineer with testing and documentation of the integrity of the city sewer system in the blast impact zone. City drinking water service lines will be tested today.

When SR Systems needed to test its products in an F5 tornado, the TEEX Product Development Center (PDC) and its collaborators across The Texas A&M University System tackled the challenge. As part of an agency known for simulating huge fires, explosions and destroyed cities for training purposes, the PDC team and its partners soon developed just what the company needed – a man-made tornado.

TX-TF1 wraps up second day of search & rescue in West, TX

Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) is wrapping up their second operational period in support of the search & rescue efforts in West, TX. The team continued delayering the apartment complex structure and performed secondary searches of the neighborhood north of Meadows Drive. The team also performed a wide area search of the West Fertilizer Plant.

Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) was activated just before 1 a.m. this morning by the Governor through the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and deployed from their facility in College Station to West, Texas, around 6 a.m. to assist the jurisdiction in search and rescue operations after a large explosion at a fertilizer plant.
