Oklahoma peace officers can earn continuing education credits for TEEX training

COLLEGE STATION – Oklahoma peace officers can now earn continuing education credits for training offered by the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) through a new agreement with the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training (CLEET).

CLEET has added more than 20 TEEX courses to its catalog of accredited training options and will provide continuing education credits to Oklahoma law enforcement officers who complete any of the courses. Officers can earn up to 80 credit hours by completing TEEX training, some of which is available 24/7 online.

The entire TEEX cybersecurity course catalog has been approved by CLEET to meet required continuing education credit hours for law enforcement officers. Also approved by CLEET are Wide Area Search, Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Awareness, Jurisdictional Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Critical Asset Risk Management, and Advanced Critical Infrastructure Protection. These courses are offered at no charge to emergency responders through the DHS/FEMA Homeland Security National Training Program Cooperative Agreement.

Oklahoma peace officers can also earn 80 credit hours for completing training leading to the TEEX Forensic Investigator Certificate.

“This represents a growing relationship with the law enforcement community in Oklahoma that should reap many benefits on both sides,” said Tony Casper, TEEX Director of Curriculum & eLearning Services. “The fact that our courses have been evaluated and accredited by CLEET is further evidence of the outstanding quality of our curriculum and a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in its development and the ongoing efforts to keep our courses current.”

Steve Williams made the initial contact with CLEET officials, while Casper, Rebecca Donnelly and Christine Ramirez contributed to the course approvals.
