TX-TF 1 sends representatives to North Texas ahead of possible tornadic activity

The Governor’s Division of Emergency Management has directed Texas Task Force 1, or TX-TF 1, to send liaison officers to various locations Texas due to the National Weather Service’s prediction of severe weather in those areas on Tuesday.

The weather system is connected with the recent deadly weather events in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Missouri. The potential exists for large hail and some tornadic activity for the northern part of Texas beginning on Tuesday. Forecasts show the system then moving to the south and east on Wednesday.

Texas Task Force 1 is sponsored by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) and is comprised of more than 400 personnel representing more than 60 jurisdictions and agencies from across the state of Texas, and is one of 28 teams in the national urban search and rescue system under FEMA. Texas Task Force 1 and TEEX coordinate statewide requests for search and rescue. TEEX and the Task Force are headquartered in College Station.
