The annual Texas Fire Schools, held every July, bring thousands of firefighters to the Bryan-College Station community and have $1.4 million in economic impact on the area.
The Economic Development Administration and TEEX will provide training to communities struck by disasters like Hurricane Harvey.
Twelve inmates completed the 200-hour Facilities Maintenance Worker program offered by TEEX and Blinn College in collaboration with the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office. Participants received two certificates at a graduation ceremony on May 23.

Supervisors from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) recently attended the pilot of a new, two-day Principles of Leadership course, which was developed jointly by the TABC and TEEX.
The American Council on Education (ACE) has recommended college credit for 30 TEEX courses, including 19 forensic science courses, 10 cybersecurity courses and a Disaster Management course.
Some high school students in the Spring Independent School District are taking TEEX online cybersecurity courses, which are recommended for college credit through the American Council on Education (ACE).
The National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, or NDPC, recently celebrated its 20th year of making a substantial impact on the nationÂ’s preparedness. Since 1998, NDPC training has benefited more than 2.9 million participants in all 50 states and each U.S. territory. A new report details how NDPC training was used during an unprecedented number of natural disasters during FY2018.
Rebecca Tate received the prestigious Regents Fellow Service Award from The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. She was recognized for her efforts to enhance the nationÂ’s safety and security by ensuring first responders receive high-quality emergency preparedness training.
