NCTM launches therapeutics manufacturing course developed by TEEX
The National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM) at Texas A&M University has rolled out “Introduction to Therapeutics Manufacturing,” an online course that provides a comprehensive overview of the pharmaceutical industry. The course is being offered at no cost through Feb. 13, 2015, and is designed for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the field of biopharmaceutical manufacturing or is simply curious to know how therapeutics are developed.
The 2-hour self-paced course was developed by TEEX’s Knowledge Engineering and is hosted on a Learning Management System developed by TEEX for NCTM. The course covers the drug/medical product development process, regulatory agencies, manufacturing techniques, facilities and equipment, best practices and quality assurance. Students also learn about the variety of careers within the field of therapeutics manufacturing.
The course is the first of several online and blended learning courses TEEX Knowledge Engineering is developing for NCTM’s Entry Level Technician Certificate program. TEEX instructional designers involved in the project include Diane Cornwell, Kim Everett, Tricia Speed, Kristal Hyles and Vicki Park. Kathy Fraser and Steve Presnal provided video support and Vita Vaughn provided the acting talent.
