Critical Infrastructure Safety

The safety and security of the nation’s citizens and critical infrastructure depends on the quality and depth of disaster preparedness and emergency planning provided by the TEEX Infrastructure Training and Safety Institute (ITSI) and the National Emergency Response and Recovery Training Center (NERRTC). These courses prepare individual responders and jurisdictions to plan for and react collectively in the event of a terrorist act or natural disaster, as well as prepare for the recovery process following an incident. Combining facilitated learning with intensive tabletop exercises, disaster management courses offer training aimed at protecting multiple critical infrastructures including healthcare, public services, cyber and utilities. As part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium, these courses were developed and funded by the DHS/FEMA Homeland Security National Training Program Cooperative Agreement through the sponsorship of the DHS/FEMA National Training and Education Division. They are offered nationwide at no cost to qualified participants.

The Critical Infrastructure Safety Program also features customized courses, technical assistance aimed at critical infrastructure sectors, along with computed aided tabletop and functional exercise simulation that provides comprehensive and personal learning experiences.
