Industrial School Attracts Largest Number Since 1996

More than 760 industrial firefighters and safety officers are at the Brayton Fire Training Field this week for the 50th Industrial Fire Training School, which continues through July 20. The attendees are members of industrial emergency response brigades and safety officers from some of the world’s largest oil & gas and chemical companies, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron, Conoco Phillips, Shell, BP, Valero, Marathon, Dow, DuPont, Enterprise, Sunoco and more.

20 graduate from Fire Service CEO program offered by TEEX & Texas A&M

Twenty students graduated from the inaugural Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) program held in June at the Center for Executive Development on the Texas A&M Campus. The capstone program for fire service leaders is a joint initiative between TEEX and the Texas A&M University Mays Business School.

TEEX teams up with Mays Business School to offer Fire Service CEO program

TEEX and Texas A&M University’s Center for Executive Development in the Mays Business School have teamed up to offer the Fire Service Chief Executive Officer (FSCEO) certificate program, which is designed to provide executive level professional development for company and chief officers within the fire service.

U.S. Coast Guard calls on TEEX for oil spill control training

TEEX will train as many as 450 members of the U.S. Coast Guard in Coastal Oil Spill Operations through a five-year USCG contract. Those scheduled to attend the 40-hour spill control tactics and operations include members of the three U.S. Coast Guard Strike Teams, which would respond to an oil spill incident: the Gulf Strike Team, the Pacific Strike Team and the Atlantic Strike Team.

A new course, Sports and Special Events Incident Management (MGT404), helps ensure public safety and security by helping to prepare a multi-discipline team to handle a major incident that could occur at a large sports or special event venue. Participants learn the importance of planning and preparing for special events and developing key partnerships before a crisis occurs.

Record attendance this week at the TEEX Spring Fire Training School

The 24th Annual TEEX Spring Fire Training School (Spring School) has a record 387 students attending courses at the Brayton Fire Training Field this week. In addition to the Emergency Services Training Institute (ESTI) Spring School, regularly scheduled classes are being held bringing the total number of students at Brayton Fire Training Field well above 700.

HazMat Illicit Laboratory courses prepare responders for call to suspected drug lab

Law enforcement officers and other emergency responders often face dangerous situations and even explosive chemicals during otherwise routine calls. That’s why TEEX offers grant-funded training that helps prepare emergency response personnel and other public servants who may encounter an illicit laboratory used for manufacturing illegal drugs, or even chemical or biological weapons.

TEEX provides EMT-Paramedic training to soldiers at Fort Hood

TEEX initiates a specialty program to a select group of soldiers already trained in basic Dentistry and hold the EMT-Basic certification to prepare for the EMT-Paramedic level exam. These civil affairs soldiers are trained for the possibility that they may be functioning as the health care system where they are stationed.
