The Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) held its first-ever NFPA 1006 Wilderness Search and Rescue certification course this month at the Brayton Fire Training Field, challenging participants through a combination of classroom sessions and extensive, outdoor hands-on experiences.
The API Storage Tank Fires project #45 at Brayton Fire Training Field has been upgraded to enhance the training for firefighters who respond to incidents involving fires at flammable liquid storage facilities.

Pat Barretts heart belonged to his family, his country, and to firefighters in the great state of Texas. The Pat Barrett Fire School Scholarship established by his wife, Janet, and his family, will honor the long-time champion and friend of the states firefighters by helping others attend the fire school he dearly loved.
Record temperatures in the triple digits have not dampened the spirits of the more than 2,500 firefighters at Brayton Fire Training Field this week for the 82nd Municipal Fire Training School. Undaunted, the firefighters come from every corner of Texas, as well as 15 other states and countries, to hone their skills and techniques to better serve their communities.
