Texas Task Force 1 was deployed for severe weather and flooding in the state, and worked with state response partners to rescue 27 people and 17 animals and to evacuate 435 individuals plus 62 animals to a safer location.
Texas Task Force 1 Water Rescue Teams were activated by the Texas Division of Emergency Management for severe weather and widespread flooding in East Texas. TX-TF1 made a total of 15 water rescues, assisted 12 people out of water, and evacuated 200 residents to a safer location.
Texas Task Force 1 hosted 57 canine search specialist teams at the FEMA Canine Search Specialist Weekend at Disaster City®. The canine teams represented 18 of the 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue teams from across the nation.
Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) returned to College Station Dec. 28 after being demobilized by the Texas Department of Emergency Management. The team, in conjunction with Texas Task Force 2, completed searches of 13 areas in Rowlett and Garland, where a powerful tornado struck on Dec. 26.
Kelly Brett Dixon of Texas Task Force 1 has been awarded the prestigious Regents Fellow Service Award by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents. He was recognized for his role in developing a Helicopter Search and Rescue Team (HSART) Program that has saved many lives during disastrous swiftwater and flooding events in the state.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management requested Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) to have assets ready and to strategically position key resources across the state in preparation for potential heavy rainfall and possible flood conditions. The team performed 43 water rescues over the weekend.

The Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) Type 1 Urban Search and Rescue Team has been deactivated after four days of wide area search operations along more than 50 miles of the Blanco River. TX-TF1 water rescue boat squads and Helicopter Search and Rescue Technicians are still activated and staged at key locations across the state.
Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1), along with other response agencies, continues a wide area search today along a stretch of the Blanco River for victims of the Memorial Day weekend floods. The 70+-member team, which includes 8 canines, is searching structures and debris piles in the affected areas.
The Texas Division of Emergency Management activated a 35-member Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) Type 3 Team this afternoon. The team includes Technical and Canine Search and Rescue components as well as Swiftwater Rescue personnel and equipment.
