Officials in South Carolina have formed a Pediatric Disaster Planning Coalition to improve preparedness for children involved in disaster, thanks, in part, to TEEX training in Pediatric Disaster Response and Emergency Preparedness.

Healthcare personnel and emergency managers from the National Capital Region participated in an Integrated Capstone Event exercise in two locations simultaneously – Anniston, AL, and College Station, TX –via TEEX’s unique online simulation training tool called the Emergency Management*Exercise System (EM*ES).

Because of the 2013 bombings and recent terrorist attacks in Brussels and Paris, security was tight at this year’s Boston Marathon. Among the agencies, departments and universities that trained public safety personnel supporting the marathon was TEEX’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC).

Breaking down barriers between physical and digital worlds and getting two disparate groups of security professionals to collaborate is the goal of a new TEEX course in critical infrastructure protection.

An innovative course provides the nuts and bolts of basic search and rescue to better prepare citizens to support themselves and their families after a disaster. They may have the opportunity to rescue others and save lives before responders arrive on the scene.

A Continuing Training Grant from DHS/FEMA will provide additional cybersecurity training to help communities across the nation prepare for and respond to cyber incidents.

Increasing concerns about how campuses plan for and manage critical incidents, such as recent shootings, have college officials calling TEEX to schedule specialized training in “Managing Critical Incidents for Higher Education Institutions.”
