Two training events offered in San Antonio: Safety Rodeo and Water Expo

Texas A&M University-San Antonio (TAMU-SA) and TEEX are teaming up to bring world-class professional training opportunities to South San Antonio. A Safety Rodeo will be held July 23-26 and a Water Expo will be held July 31 – Aug. 2. Both training events will be held at the Texas A&M-San Antonio Brooks City-Base Campus.

Energy efficiency for commercial buildings is the goal of new TEEX course

Making commercial buildings more energy efficient is the goal of a new training program offered by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). Energy Efficiency for Commercial Building Technicians is designed to help technicians identify areas of improvement and implement applications and techniques that optimize energy performance in new and existing commercial buildings.

Work Zone Awareness Week: TEEX offers 776th class in Work Zone Traffic Control

April 23-27, 2012, is National Work Zone Awareness Week. For nearly 30 years, TEEX has worked alongside the Texas Department of Transportation using courses like Work Zone Traffic Control to improve traffic safety in highway work zones across Texas. Next week, TEEX delivers the Work Zone Traffic Control course for the 776th time.

TEEX Certified Safety & Health Official® program adds 3 tracks, earns BCSP recognition

The industry-recognized TEEX Certified Safety & Health Official™ (CSHO) Degree and Certificate Program has added three new specialty tracks for safety personnel in electric power, wind generation and industrial emergency response. The fully accredited TEEX CSHO degree programs are now recognized by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) toward the Associate Safety Professional (ASP) and Certified Safety professional (CSP) educational requirements.

Colombia calls on Texas A&M Engineering, TEEX to help clean up contaminated water

The Republic of Colombia is interested in a technology developed by Texas A&M Engineering that could clean contaminated water recovered from drilling and production operations. Colombian officials are also interested in training provided by the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) for the technicians, inspectors and engineers that would use the technology.

TEEX to train solar installers for jobs in renewable energy industry

As a part of its new Alternative Energy Training Program, the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) is launching its first 40-hour apprentice-level certification course in solar photovoltaic (PV) installation. The 40-hour course will be taught at the TEEX utilities and energy training facility on the Texas A&M Riverside Campus in Bryan, where a new vertical-axis wind generator & solar hybrid street light was recently installed.

Public Works Response Team assesses water & sewer infrastructure damaged by wildfire

The Texas Public Works Response Team (PWRT) deployed to assist local officials in the recovery from the Bastrop County Complex wildfires that began on Sept. 4. They conducted assessments of several hundred water and sewer connections and infrastructure damaged by the fires.
