Texas A&M Forensics students earn credits toward college degree & forensics certificate

Ten students from the Texas A&M University Forensic and Investigative Sciences program completed a weeklong Crime Scene Investigation course held this month at the Texas Forensic Science Academy (TFSA) located at Riverside Campus. The unique program is a collaboration between Texas A&M and TEEX.

TEEX Explosives Training leads to Blinn College Fire Science Degree

Students enrolled in the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) Explosives Training Program, operated by the Public Safety & Security division, will now be eligible for college credit and future financial aid through an articulation agreement with Blinn College. Under the agreement, Blinn students seeking a Fire Science degree who complete four TEEX Ordnance Removal & Remediation courses would be eligible for 18 semester hours of college credit toward an Associate of Applied Science degree.

Robert ‘Bob’ Wiatt facility approved by Board of Regents

A new $2.2 million multipurpose training facility for the Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) will be named after the legendary Brazos Valley law enforcement officer and former Texas A&M University Chief of Police, Robert “Bob” Wiatt. The facility name, recently approved by the The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents, will be the Robert “Bob” Wiatt Physical Skills Training Complex. The TEEX Public Safety & Security division training facility will be located on the Texas A&M Riverside Campus, with construction scheduled to begin in September.

Book focuses on practical approach to forensic photography

With over 14 years as a Crime Scene Investigator, Christopher Duncan believes that in court it always begins with photography. Duncan is an Adjunct Instructor of Forensic Photography for the Texas Forensic Science Academy (TFSA) and a Crime Scene Investigator. His new book, Advanced Crime Scene Photography, is designed to help the investigator working in the field.

Aggie students first to earn TEEX Forensic Technician Certificate

The first group of Aggies majoring in the Forensic and Investigative Sciences degree program at Texas A&M University recently earned an important credential to add to their resume: the TEEX Forensic Technician Certificate. The students earned the certificate by completing 80 hours of forensics training through the Texas Forensic Science Academy.

Unexploded Ordnance Technicians use iPads to usher in TEEX paperless classroom

When the TEEX Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Tech I Class #47 graduated in May, they earned a unique distinction. They became the first class of Unexploded Ordnance Technicians to go digital – instead of lugging around two 3-ring binders, the students were issued iPads loaded with all of their study materials.
