Al Davis has been tapped to serve as Deputy Director of the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX). His appointment was approved today by The Texas A&M University System Board of Regents.

Thirty-seven members of Texas Task Force 1 recently held a two-day skill set training session in winter wide area search at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX.

As 80,000 fans travel to MetLife Stadium for Super Bowl XLVIII on Feb. 2, local transportation officials and responders in New Jersey and New York will be prepared for any emergency, thanks in part to training from TEEX. TEEX’s expertise in homeland security, emergency management and response, incident command, and threat and risk assessment has helped to ensure the safety of thousands of fans turning out to cheer their team on to a Super Bowl victory.

The entire TEEX Family is saddened by the death of Deputy Sergeant Investigator Adam Sowders of the Burleson County Sheriff’s Department and offers our condolences to his family, friends and co-workers.

Several Texas Legislative staff members recently visited TEEX, along with Rep. John Raney, who represents District 14. They toured the equipment cache of Texas Task Force 1 and training facilities at the Texas A&M Riverside Campus as well as Brayton Fire Training Field and Disaster City.

Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) urban search and rescue team is forming a new Type 3 team that will be based in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. The TX-TF1 Lower Rio Grande Valley – Type 3 urban search and rescue team would provide regional response assets for flash flooding, wide area search and structural collapse, said TX-TF1 Director Billy Parker. The team could also be mobilized for a state deployment.
