Texas Task Force 1 (TX-TF1) has deployed nine helicopter rescue technicians in advance of continued heavy rain expected across Central Texas and the coastline over the weekend.

The 2010 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, which includes $23 million for TEEX’s National Emergency Response and Rescue Training Center (NERRTC), has passed both houses of Congress.

TEEX and Louisiana Tech University in Ruston have signed an agreement that will allow the agency to provide some of its specialized curriculum and workforce training programs to Louisiana workers.
